Limmud is the annual festival of all things Jewish, which takes place this year in Birmingham from December 25th to 29th. It's brilliant for kids, with a whole range of educational and fun activities for all ages, from newborns to 17 year olds.
This year, Limmud falls on Chanukah. There will be special family candle lighting ceremonies each night of Limmud featuring cutting edge Jewish musicians from the US and Israel. The 2016 family programme features US-based Ladino rock musician Sarah Aroeste, who has just released a CD of Ladino children's music. Award-winning, multisensory Jewish family educator Janie Grackin will be making large installation projects with children and their parents. The internationally acclaimed storyteller Gerald Fierst will also be joining us.
There'll be arts and crafts, a magician, sessions on how to experience meaningful Jewish ritual with your kids, and storytime in the evenings, as well as the PJ Library Pop-Up Library for when parents need some quiet time with their kids. And if you want to try something new – bring your favourite vegetables for a session on how to make your own jar of pickles run by the folks from the new Jewish farm.
It's a great way to make new friends from across the country for both kids and their parents.
See you there!
