Happy birthday Israel!

UJIA are delighted to be partnering with PJ Library for a third year for Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day. The books being sent to children aged 0-2 yrs and 3-4 yrs are sponsored by UJIA as both books share a theme of Shalom which is such an important word in Hebrew, meaning hello, goodbye and peace. The books are called Shalom by award-winning author and illustrator Todd Parr and Everybody Says Shalom by Leslie Kimmelman.

This year, Yom Ha'atzmaut falls on the evening of 4th May and day of 5th May 2022. As the leading educational and Israel-focused charity in the UK, UJIA have three suggested ways to celebrate and commemorate this special and important day with your children and family.

In Israel many families celebrate the day with picnics. For special picnic recipes visit https://ujia.org/pjyh-picnic/.

Want to learn something about Israel's heroes? Play this funny game to see if you can become a hero too: https://ujia.org/hero-game/.

Finally, how about learning to say some words in Hebrew with this fun matching game: https://ujia.org/pjlibrary2020/lilah.php.

UJIA is committed to supporting young people to engage with Israel. From Israel education at school to trips to Israel for young people, for more information visit www.ujia.org or contact Melanie Kelly, Head of Children and Families Education at melanie.kelly@ujia.org.
